Importing Trades via CSV

Tradapt supports trade import from any broker that provides CSV exports. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Export from Your Broker

Navigate to your broker's trade history or account activity section and export as CSV. Common paths:

  • Interactive Brokers: Reports > Flex Queries (or Activity > Trade Confirmations > CSV)
  • TD Ameritrade: Trade History > Export to CSV
  • TradeStation: Reports > Trade Log > Export
  • MetaTrader 4/5: Statements > Detailed (right-click) > Save as Report
  • Webull: Orders > Export
  • Robinhood: Account > Statements > Tax Documents (1099 CSV)
  • Generic brokers: Most platforms have a trade history export under Reports or Statements

Step 2: Upload to Tradapt

  1. In Tradapt's sidebar, go to Import Trades
  2. Click Upload CSV and select your exported file
  3. Tradapt will automatically detect the broker format

Step 3: Review the Preview

Before confirming the import, Tradapt shows you a preview of the parsed trades:

  • Verify that dates, symbols, quantities, and prices are correct
  • If fields are misaligned, your broker format may need a manual mapping step (contact support)

Step 4: Confirm Import

Click Import [N] Trades. Tradapt will process the file and add all trades to your journal.

Supported Broker Formats

Tradapt auto-detects and supports:

  • Interactive Brokers (Flex Query format)
  • TD Ameritrade / Schwab
  • TradeStation
  • MetaTrader 4 and 5 (HTML and CSV)
  • Webull (order history export)
  • Robinhood (1099-B CSV)
  • Generic OHLCV trade logs

If your broker isn't listed, use the Generic CSV import. You'll need to map columns manually, but any CSV with date, symbol, quantity, buy/sell, and price can be imported.

Troubleshooting Import Errors

"Format not recognized": Try exporting in a different format from your broker (some offer multiple CSV types). If that doesn't work, use the Generic import option.

Duplicate trades detected: Tradapt uses a deduplication system. If trades from a previous import are detected, you'll be asked whether to skip duplicates or import all.

Date format errors: Ensure your system locale matches the date format in the CSV (MM/DD/YYYY vs DD/MM/YYYY). You can change this in Tradapt's import settings.

Manual Trade Entry

If your broker doesn't offer CSV export, or for tracking specific trades in detail, you can add trades manually:

  1. Go to Journal > Add Trade
  2. Fill in all required fields (symbol, direction, entry, exit, quantity)
  3. Add optional fields: setup type, emotional state, notes, screenshots

Manual entry takes about 60 seconds per trade for the essentials.
