Why Journal Defaults Matter

Journal defaults pre-populate fields when you create new trades, reducing logging time to under 60 seconds per trade. They also enable Tradapt's AI to track your rule adherence and behavioral patterns.

Setting Up Your Daily Rules

In Settings > Journal Defaults, configure:

Maximum Daily Loss

The dollar amount at which you stop trading for the day. Tradapt displays this on your dashboard and alerts you as you approach it.

Example: If you risk 1% per trade on a $10,000 account ($100/trade) and want to stop at 3 losses, set max daily loss to $300.

Maximum Daily Trades

The maximum number of trades you'll take in a single day. When reached, Tradapt marks the count as met on your dashboard.

This defaults to 0 (no limit). Setting a specific number helps track overtrading.

Default Account

Which trading account new trades are assigned to by default. If you primarily trade one funded account, set it here to avoid manually selecting it each time.

Default Setup Type

If you primarily trade one setup, setting it as default means it's pre-selected on each new trade log — just change it when you take a different setup.

Setting Up Your Playbook Setups

The Playbook section (sidebar) lets you create named setups with:

  • Setup name and description
  • Entry criteria notes
  • Risk parameters
  • Performance tracking

Once created, these setups appear in the "Setup Type" dropdown when logging trades, making categorization fast and consistent.

Emotional State Configuration

The emotional state field defaults to a 1–5 scale. Your rating at entry is one of the most powerful data points for AI pattern detection.

Calibrate your scale:

  • 1: Completely calm, focused, no distraction
  • 2: Slightly elevated awareness, minor external factors
  • 3: Moderate stress or excitement — slightly elevated
  • 4: Significant stress, frustration, or greed — decision-making impaired
  • 5: Very emotional, anxious, or overconfident — should not be trading

Consistency in your scale is more important than any specific calibration.

AI Settings

In AI Settings, configure:

  • Weekly AI Review notifications: On or off (email when the weekly review is generated)
  • Pattern alert threshold: How sensitive the AI is to flagging behavioral patterns
