Connect Alpaca to Tradapt

Alpaca is a commission-free API-first brokerage for stocks and crypto, popular with algorithmic traders and developers. Broker API auto-sync is coming soon on Essential and Pro. When live, Tradapt will import live and paper fills via API. Use CSV import today.

Broker API auto-sync is not live yet. It is coming soon on Essential and Pro (same rollout as pricing). Use CSV import for Alpaca trades today. The steps below are for when sync is enabled.

Create a read-only API key on Alpaca

    Log in to your Alpaca account at alpaca.markets

    Switch to either your Live or Paper trading environment using the toggle at the top

    Click the API Keys button in the right panel of the dashboard, or go to the API section
  4. 4
    Click Generate New Key
  5. 5
    Copy both the API Key ID and the Secret Key — the secret is only shown once
  6. 6
    Repeat for your other environment (live or paper) if you want to track both separately

Tradapt uses your Alpaca API key only to read trade activity. No orders are placed and no funds are moved. Credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.

Connect in Tradapt

    Log in to your Tradapt account

    Go to Settings in the left sidebar, then click the Integrations tab

    Find Alpaca in the exchange list and click Connect
  4. 4
    Paste your API Key ID and Secret Key into the form
  5. 5
    In the Paper Trading field, type 'yes' if you are connecting a paper trading account, or 'no' for a live account

    Optionally select which Tradapt account to link the imported trades to
  7. 7
    Click Connect — when API sync is live, Tradapt validates the key and imports your fill activity (use CSV import today)

Frequently asked questions

Can I track both my live and paper Alpaca accounts in Tradapt?

Yes. Connect each account separately — set Paper Trading to 'yes' for your paper account and 'no' for your live account. Both will appear in Tradapt as separate accounts.

Does Tradapt support Alpaca's algorithmic trading activity?

When API sync is live, any filled order in your Alpaca account — manual or from a bot — will import into your journal. Until then, use CSV import.

What plan do I need for Alpaca API sync?

Alpaca API auto-sync is planned for Essential and Pro (coming soon). CSV import works on every plan today.

Does Tradapt import options trades from Alpaca?

Alpaca currently offers stocks, crypto, and ETFs. Options are not available on Alpaca, so they are not imported.
