Connect Coinbase to Tradapt

Coinbase Advanced Trade is Coinbase's professional trading platform. Broker API auto-sync via CDP is coming soon on Essential and Pro. When live, Tradapt will import Advanced Trade fills with a read-only key. Use CSV import today.

Broker API auto-sync is not live yet. It is coming soon on Essential and Pro (same rollout as pricing). Use CSV import for Coinbase trades today. The steps below are for when sync is enabled.

Create a read-only API key on Coinbase

Go to the Coinbase Developer Platform at cdp.coinbase.com

Sign in with your Coinbase account

Click Create API Key

Under Permissions, select View — do NOT enable trade or transfer permissions

Complete the confirmation and copy your API Key Name and API Secret

Note: The API secret is only shown once. Store it somewhere safe before closing the page

Open Coinbase API settings

Tradapt only requests the View permission scope. Your key cannot place orders, send funds, or access any account settings. Credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM.

Connect in Tradapt

Log in to your Tradapt account

Go to Settings in the left sidebar, then click the Integrations tab

Find Coinbase in the exchange list and click Connect

Paste your CDP API Key and API Secret into the form

Optionally select which Tradapt account to link the imported trades to

Click Connect — when API sync is live, Tradapt validates the key and imports your Advanced Trade fills (use CSV import today)

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Coinbase Advanced Trade account?

Yes. Tradapt connects to the Coinbase Advanced Trade API (formerly Coinbase Pro). Basic Coinbase accounts without Advanced Trade access are not supported via API — use CSV import instead.

Where do I create the Coinbase API key?

Through the Coinbase Developer Platform (cdp.coinbase.com), not the main Coinbase settings page. Make sure to select View-only permissions when creating the key.
